Somalia Peace and Development Organization

Somali Peace and Development Organization (SOMPAD) is a registered local Non-governmental organization (NGO) under the laws of Somalia and established in March 2020. SOMPAD was registered to operate in Somalia in November 2022 under the legal statute of the Federal Government.

Somali Peace and Development Organization (SOMPAD) formed in 2020, is a nonprofit-making, registered Non-Governmental Organization that operates among the communities affected by conflict and violence as a result of long decades of war in Somalia.

Due to the armed conflict, communities lost their people and property to fighting yet they were not involved in the peace and reconciliation process.

A group of Somali youth peace activists formed the Organization to address this gap. SOMPAD aims at promoting positive cultural practices and realization of human rights especially to humanitarian assistance, Peace and Development among the Somali communities.

Through advocacy for human rights to humanitarian assistance, Peace and Development, SOMPAD lobbies with various stakeholders and partners like Government through security organs like the army, police and other Civil Society Organization.
