About
The National Electoral Council (CNE) is the governing body that exercises electoral power in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. It is one of the five public branches of government established in the National Constitution. Its headquarters are located in the Simón Bolívar Center in downtown Caracas. The legal norm that governs the electoral branch is the Organic Law of Electoral Power (LOPE), which defines its authority to regulate, organize, direct, and supervise the activities of its subordinate bodies, as well as to guarantee compliance with the constitutional principles attributed to the Electoral Branch.
