CIFOR-ICRAF addresses local challenges and opportunities while providing solutions to global problems for forests, landscapes, people and the planet.

We live in a world of escalating challenges that amplify each other in alarming ways.

These can only be met through inclusive, science-based approaches. And trees – whether in forests or on farms – are a key part of the solution.

The Center for International Forestry Research and World Agroforestry (CIFOR-ICRAF) works at the nexus of five interconnected areas where trees can make a difference:

Vision: CIFOR-ICRAF envisions a more equitable world of inclusive green economies supported by biodiverse landscapes made resilient through healthy forests, trees and soils.

Mission: CIFOR-ICRAF harnesses trusted science on forests, trees and soils with inclusive action to catalyse the transition to more biodiverse forests and farms, climate-resilient communities, vibrant food systems, green and equitable supply and value chains, and rights-based natural resource management.
