Local Communities Organization

"Local Communities" is an independent, non-profit Palestinian civil organization, established in 2020, that focuses on local development and local government with national, regional, and international dimensions. "Local Communities" seeks and aspires to provide local communities with a voice in order to empower and develop them, as well as to promote and protect their right to development based on active and meaningful citizens' participation and an equitable distribution of benefits and resulting gains.

"Local Communities" depends on promoting genuine partnership and collaboration among the constituents of local communities in order to conclude new social contracts that allow for local development achievement within the framework of good, reasonable, and sustainable local governance.

"Local Communities" operates on a core philosophy that emphasizes the principles of human rights, equity, and social justice, and the protection and empowerment of marginalized groups within society. Our methodology is rooted in the belief that sustainable development can only be achieved through inclusive practices that ensure all voices are heard and considered.

The Vision:Towards open and advanced local communities that have the ability to innovate, create, and pioneer in investing and managing resources and opportunities available to achieve sustainable and comprehensive local development.

The Mission:"Local Communities" is a Palestinian NGO, comprising a team of initiators, experts, academics, and community activists who seek to promote the concept of local citizenship in light of good local governance and effective investment of latent and available resources. This is achieved through building and developing the capacities of citizens and local institutions; establishing partnerships; exchanging expertise, experiences, and opportunities at the national and regional levels; conducting research and development, supporting local economic, social, and environmental initiatives; and protecting the rights of the groups most vulnerable to marginalization and exclusion, such as women, children and youth.
