The Foundation
Its purpose is to promote and develop plans and activities of general interest with a broad sociocultural and recreational scope that will allow for a better understanding of the current and historical relevance of the Port of Bilbao in the economic, social, and cultural development and the integration of the municipalities bordering the Nervión Estuary.

Within these broad objectives, it will develop, among others, the specific activities that, without being exhaustive or limiting, are listed below:

• Research, conservation, and dissemination of the historical, cultural, and economic legacy of the Port of Bilbao in the municipalities bordering the Nervión River, promoting training, projects, and initiatives on the subject, either directly or in collaboration with other public or private initiatives or through collaborative programs with entities and organizations in other areas.
• Collaboration and sponsorship agreements for activities in social, cultural, or sports fields.
• Organization of congresses and technical conferences, seminars, sectoral meetings, and training courses within the port sector.
• Publications, scholarships, and training grants within the port sector.
• Any other actions aimed at achieving the founding objectives.

As established in its Statutes , the Bilbao Port and Estuary Foundation - Bilboko Portua eta Itsasadarra Fundazioa is a non-profit foundation with legal personality and its own assets, independent of the founding Organizations and Institutions, and with full capacity to fulfill its purposes. It was legally constituted by public deed granted on March 1, 2011 and registered in the Registry of Foundations of the Basque Country on July 27, 2011, governed by the legal provisions applicable to it, in particular by Law 9/2016, of June 2, on Foundations of the Basque Country, and by Decrees 100/2007 and 101/2007, of June 19, which approve the Regulations of the Protectorate and Registry of Foundations of the Basque Country. Its registration in the Registry of Foundations is included in Section 3, relating to cultural, youth, and sports foundations. The Foundation operates within the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country.
