The ACEP - Associação para a Cooperação Entre os Povos was constituted in early 90s in a complex context, the expansion of social exclusion and manifestations of racism, on the one hand, and with a progressive discrediting of motivations and the impacts of cooperation, on the other.

The basic referents of national and international social movements have become blurred and the revaluation of the concept and practice of solidarity has become indispensable.

Challenges: maintaining principles, risking innovation, learning from the experiences of others and the surrounding reality, ACEP has sought to build a coherent project based on principles that are transversal to policies, practices and organizational models. Participatory democracy, solidarity among equals, the integrality of human rights, respect for difference and the sharing of knowledge are the basis of projects and actions, guided by an ethic of transparency in the management of the media, of relations, coupled with an aesthetic value of the other in the forms and contents of communication. Through ACEP, a permanent search for new approaches and new contributions to the cooperation between different spaces of citizenship, based on those principles, takes place.
