About
BACKGROUND TO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CENTRE (CDC):
Community Development Centre (CDC) is an indigenous non-governmental, nonprofit making
organization. The organization was founded on January 2014 by South Sudanese youths who are
concerned of the deteriorating livelihoods and the poor economic, social, and environmental,
health and high rates of unemployment that resulted from illiteracy and marginalization of
communities. To promote cultural, social and sustainable human development and creation of
peaceful society through supporting, community development initiatives, awareness and
empowerment programs. The organization also works to aware stakeholders at regional and
international levels on community development needs and situation of the disadvantaged rural and
urban women, men and youths. Community Development Center (CDC) seeks to build stronger
and resilient local community and response to community development programs.
The organization is headquartered in Juba and have presences in Yei River, Morobo, Lainya
Counties and now to Bor, Malakal, Bentiu, Wau and gradually expanding to other major South
Sudan towns.
CDC has a well-established and functional Board of ten (10) members elected by the General
Assembly - which is the supreme body of the organization. The board is the steward of the CDC’s
constitution, polices and projects. The Board supervises the management and ensures that it
develops, implement and meets the needs of the community. The organization is headed by the
Executive Director who is the secretary to the board. The management ensures that the strategies,
policies and regulations of the organization are implemented. The management consists of six (6)
staffs who have a wealth experience on project management and monitoring and 6 support staffs
who compliment the work of the program staffs.

environmental protection.

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:
- To foster unity, promote peace and work for reconciliation, healing and conflict resolution
- To Increase access to adequate and quality food by households participating so that vulnerable women and men achieve improved livelihoods security – in terms of food, income or other assets sufficient to ensure their well-being;
- To promote cultural and social development in the communities.
- To promote entrepreneurship, innovation, technology, open culture and empower communities with life skills and capacity building for socio economic development.
- To raise awareness on dangers and prevention of HIV/AIDs and risks of necrotic drugs, public smoking and other related health issues.
- To provide access to quality education through establishment of schools, management, supervision and supporting of learning development programs.
