About
IEIIT is an Institute of the National Research Council, a reference for advanced scientific and technological research in Information Engineering, which invests in sectors such as electronics, electromagnetism, telecommunications, system control and artificial intelligence, computer science and bioengineering.
The Mission of IEIIT is to promote and support the diffusion and application of Information Engineering in society, placing itself at the forefront of research to produce innovation, technology transfer and training.
Excellence in basic research and a clear vision of its role and its task of "inventing the future" are the founding characteristics of IEIIT, together with a clear propensity for interdisciplinary research, essential to face the challenges of today and the future that the ubiquity of information technologies in today's world require.
In this path, IEIIT finds itself together with the major universities, research centers and national and international companies, deeply inserted in their scientific communities, having as milestones an ever-increasing number of projects and initiatives.
To anticipate the future, IEIIT has recently reshaped its strategic research lines, taking into account the renewed needs that the COVID19 pandemic has raised, with the aim of making the entire society, healthcare systems, the production chain and the industrial sector increasingly resilient. This line includes studies for the development of increasingly faster and more secure communication systems (6G and beyond, quantum communication, biological communication), corporate cybersecurity in the light of new work paradigms, such as smart working, smart home and smart office, intelligent transport capable of making society and connections more resilient to future challenges, innovative satellite communication technologies, with the application of quantum computing and artificial intelligence.
