We want to create a strong and large community of parents of LGBT+ children.
Formation of the association
Our Association of Parents and Friends of LGBT+ People was founded in the summer of 2020 as an informal group, and we currently have more than 300 members. At the beginning, Elena Martinčoková and Zlatica Maarová met on the initiative of their children, who were concerned about the stigmatization of LGBT+ people in Slovakia. Soon, they invited Beata Klenová, Mária Ivaničová, and Pavlína Fichta Čierna to join them. Gradually, more and more people are joining. Together, we shape the direction of the association, because we realize that the visible voice of parents of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender people, and all queer people is sorely lacking in our environment. Through our own stories and experiences, we give strength to others to stand up for their loved ones.
