About
The Mirja Sachs Foundation was founded in November 1987 by the German entrepreneur Gunter Sachs with the purpose to assist children and young people in need all over the world. A particular focus lies in providing support for disadvantaged children living in poverty or suffering from disease. Most of their funded projects promote access to education, schooling, and professional training, with all activities being geared towards providing conditions for a self-determined life. They fund the construction or renovation of school buildings or classrooms and all related infrastructures such as sleeping buildings, sanitary rooms, hospitals, libraries and kitchens. They also help with the purchase of equipment and devices, such as books, school furniture, computers, etc., so everything that helps children to learn successfully. At present, the Foundation’s regional focus lies in Asia, Africa and Eastern Europe, with some initiatives being funded also in Germany. They fund around 45 projects per year.
