NFDS - Nordenfjeldske Development Services AS

Nordenfjeldske Development Services (NFDS)  is a consultancy with Norwegian roots and long standing presence in Africa. We specialise in work relating to natural resources, the environment and development, primarily in Africa but also in other parts of the world. Our clients and partners consist of governments, donor agencies, regional bodies, global financial institutions, the UN as well as private trusts and foundations.

Nordenfjeldske Development Services (NFDS) has been operating since 1982 and in 1991 it was incorporated as an independent Norwegian public company with the head office in Trondheim. NFDS has staff deployed in various countries on long term projects and the company is recognised as one of Norway’s leading international consultancy companies within its field. This is reflected in its regular ranking among Norway’s most reliable and credit worthy companies and its accreditation by the World Bank, African Development Bank and several UN agencies.

Services

Just over fifty percent of our projects have a key focus on sustainable fisheries management and governance, around thirty percent focus on combatting illegal fishing and fisheries crime, while fisheries policy and legislation is also covered in about thirty percent of our work.

We also provide services in other environment and development areas, for example evaluations of development programmes, wider ocean governance assessments, regional integration, food security and capacity building. A service that has become increasingly in demand in the last years is that of creating awareness and communication and NFDS's staff are enjoying building expertise and experience in this area.
