About
WRI is a global research organization covering more than 50 countries, with offices in the United States, China, India, Brazil, and more. Our over 450 experts and staff work closely with leaders to turn big ideas into action to maintain our natural resources - the principles of economic opportunity and human well-being.
At WRI Mexico, we focused our work on four of the six critical programs to ensure the sustainable future:
- Cities
Improve the quality of life in cities through the development and scaling of urban and mobility solutions that are environmentally, socially and economically sustainable
- Weather
Promote the global transition towards a low carbon economy that generates opportunities for development and, at the same time, protects communities and natural ecosystems from harm
caused by GHGs.
- Forests
Reduce forest loss and restore the productivity of degraded forest areas to conserve biodiversity, mitigate climate change, reduce poverty and improve food security.
- Energy
Guide the scaling of clean and affordable energy systems in the world to achieve sustainable socio-economic development. But at the global level we also have the following objectives of our two remaining programs:
- Foods
Ensure that food systems reduce their impact on the environment and that they generate economic opportunities and sustainable food for 9.6 billion people by 2050.
- Water
Guarantee access to water through the mapping, measurement and mitigation of water risk.
