About

Under the authority of the Minister of Planning, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) is responsible for the design, development, coordination and implementation of statistical activity and socio-economic information on all the extent of the national territory.

In this respect, the INS is responsible in particular for:

to coordinate statistical activity throughout the national territory by ensuring the quality and harmonization of data produced at national level, by defining the standards to be followed;
to centralize, process and disseminate all the information necessary for the preparation and monitoring of economic and social policy;
disseminate all statistical information;
to create and manage the socio-economic databases of all sources of information from public statistics;
to carry out national statistical survey operations, demographic censuses and statistical studies necessary for the establishment and updating of the statistical information system on the living conditions of households and poverty;
to liaise with national and international statistical services and to represent our country at international meetings on statistics;
to coordinate and animate the activities of INS representations in the interior of the country;
to assist at the technical level the services responsible for statistics within the Administration;
to carry out economic, social and statistical studies;
to promote research in the field of statistics;
to provide training, retraining and retraining of statistical personnel in public and parapublic services;
to prepare annually the National Program of Statistical Works for the session of the National Council of Statistics;
to analyze the survey files for the purpose of the statistical visa;
