Centro de Investigaciones para el Desarrollo CID de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia

The history of the Center for Development Research, CID is divided into two stages: the first goes from its foundation in 1962 to 1975 and the second, from 1985 to the present.

Since Lauchlin Currie laid the foundations of the Center, it has become a meeting place between the daily concerns of the economic future of Colombian society and the intellectual concerns of academics and researchers in the economic sciences.

The common problem that has guided its history has been the investigation into the "basic, primary and fundamental causes of underdevelopment", as Professor Currie pointed out at the time.

Throughout this time, the production of the CID has been characterized by the autonomy and independence implied by its public nature and by the systematic formulation of relevant questions derived from its university nature.
