Diyarbakır Müze Müdürlüğü

The first museum in Diyarbakir was opened in 1934 at the Zinciriye (Senceriye) Madrasah near the Grand Mosque.
In 1985 it was moved to the present building on Elazığ Avenue and it was offered to the public in 1993. Our Museums; excavations carried out in the region and acquired through means such as purchasing and confiscation; From the Prehistoric Age, it has a rich collection of works belonging to the Early Bronze, Urartu, Assyrian, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, Akkoyunlu and Ottoman periods as well as Amida-printed Artuklu period coins and ethnographic works. In addition to the excavations of Çayönü and Hallancemi, excavations carried out under the presidency of the Ilısu Dam rescue excavations since 2000, finds containing very important information on human history are being obtained and this makes the museum a privileged position.
