Bioscan A/S engages in the development and marketing of technologies and processes for treatment of biological waste products. It focuses on research and other related activities within biotechnology, environmental engineering and techniques for the degradation and recycling of organic waste, as well as for the production and distribution of natural gas and renewable energy. The company primarily offers BIOREK technology that converts organic waste and residual waste products, including manure slurry, household waste, waste from food industries, organic sludge, and waste water, as well as residual products from biodiesel plants, distilleries, and ethanol plants into clean water, energy, and fertilizer concentrates.

BIOSCAN also provides Lactascan technology that enables the production of lactic acid from whey for use in chemical industries as a food preservative or for the production of nonoffensive solvents or biodegradable plastic. In addition, it offers technologies for the production of biogas by bacteria in a biological process, in which manure slurry and other organic waste is converted; sterilization of infected organic material; and gas purification by microbiological treatment. Further, the company provides consultancy services and designs plants. BIOSCAN primarily serves agriculture, nonfood, and fertilizer industries in Denmark, the United States, and Canada. BIOSCAN is based in Odense M, Denmark. As of February 21, 2007, BIOSCAN A/S was declared bankrupt by the Bankruptcy Court in Odense.
