About

Center for Civil Society Promotion (CCSP) is a domestic non-governmental, non-political organization founded in 1996 in Sarajevo. Since its establishment, CCSP has been dedicated to civil society strengthening in BiH and the region. During the two decades of implementation of activities in the Western Balkans, CCSP has positioned itself as an organization that represents citizens' interests, promotes civil activism, strengthens capacities and provides support to civil society organizations, government institutions, media and private sector, in order to contribute to development of democratic
society by strong partnerships and institutional mechanisms, for society on the path to EU integration.

The founding Assembly was held on 10th June 1996, and afterwards CCSP was registered at relevant court in Sarajevo, and the re-registration was made in 2000, in accordance with the FBiH Law on Associations and Foundations. Since establishment, CCSP has been an employer for more than 150 people and has provided support for knowledge and skills gaining for tens of thousands young people all over BiH. CCSP fosters diversity, recognizes women's and
marginalized groups’ rights and takes care about strengthening young people's competences in order to be more competent in the labor market, and is entrusted to 16 employees and 7 volunteers.
CCSP believes that education is a cornerstone of democratic society, economic – growth and social stability. Education is not only a human right, it's also an enabler for realizing other rights. CCSP makes great efforts in development of informal educational programs within the SMART Resource Center since its foundation in 2006. The SMART Resource Center is a unique high-professional services’ provider with the aim of developing capacity, acquiring knowledge, developing and improving skills, professionalism and effective operational activities of CSOs, government, citizens and businesses.
CCSP specializes in services such are organization of various events, legal advices, project preparation and mentoring services in drafting project proposals, finding partners from BiH and other countries in the region. CCSP also has the largest data base of civil society organizations in BiH, and the most up-to-dated information service which is available for citizens, civil society organizations and other interested parties.
CCSP is the founder and a member of the Balkan Civil Society Development Network (BCSDN), and a member of the networks: Civil Dialogue, Network for elimination violence against children (NEVAC), EU Integrations Monitoring Initiative in BiH, UN Global Compact.
CCSP has multi-decades experience, expertise variety of employees and external associates, hundreds of partner organizations and institutions, and further more CCSP plans to strengthen internal capacities and organization’s institutional development over the next five years to achieve strategic goals in three program areas:
1. Civil Society Strengthening and Stimulating environment
2. Independent and inclusive media
3. Citizens’ activism
