The members of our network oppose economic, societal and political limitations on journalistic practice. ­Together they have the opportunity to bargain for fair remuneration and to develop the means for receiving additional resources for costly research, all while developing their professional qualifications.

Fresh images, texts and audio from Eastern Europe
n-ost’s services for articles, radio and photography provide newspapers and broadcasters, foundations, companies and private individuals in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with original, high-quality journalistic texts. We, in turn, place emphasis on the current threats facing foreign reporting in Eastern-Europe—we’re up-close, critical and sophisticated in our work.

Showcasing what Europe’s discussing
Every day n-ost provides an overview of the different commentary featured in the European press through our press review, euro|topics, a project by n-ost, commissioned by the German Federal Agency for Civic Education.

Connecting and further educating journalists
Our network offers its members and other journalists from East and West workshops, networking events and research opportunities, especially within the context of our media conference, which takes place annually in a different Eastern-European city.

Supporting independent foreign reporting
Albeit through receptions on media policy, publications, or opinion pieces, n-ost is dedicated to superb foreign reporting. Contributing to this is our networking project, Legal Leaks, whose goal is to strengthen the standards of freedom of information acquisitions.
