National Road 13 South Improvement and Maintenance: Construction of 8 New Bridges Along NR13 South in Bolikhamxay (5) and Khammouan (3) Provinces

Objectives: The project aims at improving and maintaining the National Road 13 South by constructing 8 new bridges along NR13 South in Bolikhamxay (5 bridges) and Khammouan (3 bridges) provinces, with the intention to upgrade the priority section of NR13 south between Vientiane and Thakek. This will be supported by the World Bank, EIB, and AIIB. As the existing bridges' widening was not considered during the upgrading, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) intends to duplicate 8 priority bridges from EIB funds. The project includes bridge construction, road access works, and is expected to last over a period of 24 months followed by a 1-year defect liability period.
