Single Aperture Transmit-receive Phased Array Antenna for Ka Band Terminals ARTES AT 7B.083) - EXPRO+

Objectives: The objective of this tender is to design, manufacture, and test a single aperture transmit-receive flat panel antenna tailored for broadband applications within the Ka band. A focal point of this initiative is to innovate by reducing the antenna surface by up to 40%, diverging from traditional separate aperture designs. In light of the mounting deployment plans of Non-Geostationary Satellite Orbit (NGSO) constellations that employ the Ka band for user links, the developed user terminals aim to be compact, flexible, and cost-efficient, while effectively combining transmit (Tx) and receive (Rx) modalities within a single radiating array aperture. This endeavor seeks to address and overcome prevalent challenges associated with the significant frequency gap between downlink and uplink in the Ka-band, in comparison to its Ku-band counterparts, by exploring emerging technologies such as interlaced array designs and polarization discrimination. The ultimate end goal is to develop and demonstrate a scaled, reduced size Tx/Rx phased array hardware prototype that aligns with the burgeoning needs of broadband user terminal antennas.
