Supply and Delivery of Sargassum Booms for Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean

Objectives: The Project for Improving National Sargassum Management Capacities in the Caribbean intends to fortify the regional ability to manage sargassum seaweed, which poses a recurrent environmental challenge to Caribbean coastlines. This project facilitates the acquisition of essential equipment, expertise, and technical knowledge necessary for effective collection, transportation, and disposal of sargassum, mitigating its harmful impact on the region. The primary objective is to procure Sargassum Booms, specific barriers to control seaweed influxes, thereby preventing environmental degradation and economic disruptions across Barbados, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, and Trinidad & Tobago.
