Introduction

“Greening the Future: Advancing Rights and Stability” is a multi-country project for the Eastern Partnership region, initially implemented in Georgia and Moldova (with a potential of scaling up to new countries in Eastern Neighbourhood and/or Western Balkans), and featuring a regional component, which aims at drawing on and sharing expertise within Eastern Europe, Central Asia and Western Balkans, as well as stimulating evidence-based Just Transition related policy discussions and building corresponding capacity in this larger region .

The main objective of the contract is to develop practical guidance and methodologies for measuring social, environmental, human, and economic dimensions of green transition and carrying out assessments in three specific countries which will inform policy making and capacity building programs for the private sector, public authorities, and the civil society. The goal of this activity is to establish a framework for conducting impact assessments of specific policies, and programmes on selected economic sectors, project interventions, etc. The guidance will closely reflect the national needs for robust analysis and data, and analytical outputs which make a vital contribution to building trust with both domestic and international stakeholders in pursuing a green and just transition.

About the Funding Agency

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), as it is known in English, operates in about 170 countries and territories with the goal of achieving the eradication of poverty and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion. The UNDP also helps countries to develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities and build resilience in order to sustain development results.

UNDP focuses on helping countries build and share solutions in three main areas: sustainable development, democratic governance and peacebuilding, and climate and natural disaster resilience.

The annual Human Development Report, commissioned by the  UNDP, focuses the global debate on key development issues, providing new measurement tools, innovative analysis and often controversial policy proposals. The global Report's analytical framework and inclusive approach carry over into regional, national and local Human Development Reports, also supported by the UNDP.
