Description
The Ministry of Health (Minsa) in Nicaragua is responsible for planning and establishing healthcare standards and guidelines as well as managing financial and human resources and regulating, coordinating and overseeing the country's healthcare system. Based in Managua, the Ministry covers 36 primary care hospitals, 32 regional and reference hospitals, 146 health facilities and over 1,000 health posts in Nicaragua.
It also oversees a decentralized network of department units which are made up of a network of healthcare professionals located in each of Nicaragua's political subdivisions. Nicaragua's health sector strategy aims to strengthen the health system's administration, management and financing as well as increase infrastructure and equipment investment.
