Description

The UN Special Envoy is responsible for exercising the good offices of the Secretary-General to:

enable the resumption of a peaceful, inclusive, orderly and Yemeni-led political transition process that meets the legitimate demands and aspirations of the Yemeni people, including women, for peaceful change and meaningful political, economic and social reform, as set out in the 2011 Gulf Cooperation Council Initiative and its Implementation Mechanism and the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference of 2013-2014.
work closely with the members of the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Security Council and other international partners to ensure strong and consistent international backing for peace and stability in Yemen.
