The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is an international institution that encourages worldwide monetary and financial collaboration between international organizations as well as acting as a central bank for central banks and as such none of its financial services are available to private individuals or corporate entities.

The main office is located in Basel, Switzerland and there are representative offices in Hong Kong and Mexico City. Founded in 1930, the BIS is the oldest international financial institution in the world.
