Doing Business with AfDB: Latest Updates on Procurement Policy | Webinar

The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) is a regional multilateral development finance institution, with an overarching objective to spur sustainable economic development and social progress in its regional member countries (RMCs), thus contributing to poverty reduction. Established in 1963, the bank group has 82 members, including all 54 African countries and 28 non-African countries in the Americas, Europe and Asia. In 2021, AfDB’s approvals amounted to UA 4.51 billion (1 UA=1.35 USD).

DevelopmentAid, in collaboration with the AfDB, invites suppliers, contractors, and consultants interested in discovering business collaboration opportunities with the AfDB to join the webinar on “Doing Business with AfDB: Latest Updates on Procurement Policy”. During this webinar, our guest speaker will introduce the AfDB, delve into the bank’s procurement policy and procurement guidelines, and provide a set of useful tips to support potential recipients on how to bid successfully with AfDB.

After a focus on the COVID-19 response during 2020, the AfDB returned, in 2021, to a pattern of financial support for its Regional Member Countries (RMCs) that is more aligned to that of earlier years in terms of sectoral distribution. The AfDB is responding to the challenge of supporting inclusive growth and the transition to green growth by scaling up investment and implementation of the Ten Year Strategy (TYS) by focusing on five priority areas, referred to as the High 5s.

The AfDB has taken a number of steps designed to increase the transparency of its operations. One example is MapAfrica, a geocoding tool that allows users to view interactively the number, nature, location, status, and funding allocated by the AfDB based on the High 5 priority areas. For instance, between 2019 and 2021 the AfDB completed 309 projects in 1125 locations across all five priority areas.
