Details
Description
Description: Lot n°2: Welfare of reptiles ‐ Provision of one eLearning module on the killing of reptiles for their skins, meat, and other products
Reptile farming is a relatively new form of animal production that began when the demand for their skins could no longer be satisfied by unregulated wild harvesting. Consequently, the international export rate of reptiles and their products have steadily increased over the years. As part of the WOAH mandate and to address the increasing need of ensuring captive and wild reptiles’ welfare during the process of killing, a new chapter on killing of reptiles for their skins, meat and other products was adopted by WOAH members during the 2019 WOAH General Session
The e-module will be destined to VS Staff at expert level, working with reptiles during the process of killing them for their skins, meat and other products at central and field level, and border posts (including Delegates and WOAH Animal Welfare Focal Points).
Duration: 8 months
Extension: Once for 4 months
