The United States Institute of Peace is a neutral, independent national institute created by Congress and committed to the concept that a world free of violent conflict is conceivable, practicable and necessary for U.S. and global security.In line with its activities, the institute works in conflict zones at the community level as well as with national and regional governments, with a focus on connecting top-down and bottom-up initiatives, and it collaborates with stakeholders worldwide to research, support and advance strategies to prevent, mitigate and resolve violent conflicts.
The US Institute of Peace combines research, analysis and field experience to enhance the ability of policymakers and other professionals to react to some of the most critical global issues of the century. The institute is highly committed to solve problems linked to civilian-military relations, economics and the environment, gender, education and training, human rights and other essential aspects of society.
