1. INTRODUCTION

Communication is an essential part of the work of Caritas Internationalis, in terms of informing and raising awareness on the work of the Caritas network, giving voice to the most vulnerable around the world, and increasing global solidarity in support of Caritas' work to serve the poor and the most vulnerable. The Communications and Fundraising Department of Caritas Internationalis has a threefold task: 1. to inform the public, the media, national Caritas Organizations, and other interested stakeholders by producing content about the work of the Caritas Confederation and the situation in about 200 countries where it operates; 2. to ensure that content produced by Caritas Member Organizations are disseminated within the Confederation; and 3. to animate solidarity through a targeted fundraising strategy, primarily using digital tools and platforms.
To this end, the Communications and Fundraising Department of the General Secretariat of Caritas Internationalis is looking for an experienced digital communication and fundraising officer able to disseminate information, foster public engagement, and support the fundraising work through Caritas Internationalis social media accounts and website.

2. OBJECTIVE

Contributing to the work of the Communications and Fundraising Department by proactively ensuring the online presence of Caritas Internationalis and fostering the engagement of the public audience through the production and publication, on social profiles and on the Confederation's website and extranet, of content related to Caritas' work, to the different crises and emergencies, and to fundraising campaigns and projects. This is to be achieved through constant updating and by promoting an innovative digital approach in order to effectively support the mission and objectives of Caritas Internationalis.

3. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

a. Social Media
• Manage Caritas Internationalis social media channels to ensure timely, platform-tailored content that encourages engagement, raising awareness and participation.
• Ensure targeted programming of differentiated content for the various platforms and social networks.
• Ensure the weekly scheduling of posts, in agreement with the line manager and using a special scheduling tool for social media.
• Ensure constant analysis of results and metrics so as to study, in agreement with management, effective strategies aimed at optimising results, improving the digital positioning of Caritas Internationalis and increasing the number and engagement of the public audience.
• Work in collaboration with the other units and departments of the General Secretariat, in order to ensure coverage through the different digital channels of emergencies, crises, advocacy work, campaigns, conferences, events and any other initiative relevant for the work of Caritas.
• Contribute in agreement with management to the formulation of policies relating to branding, content and presence on the various digital channels
• Analyze the performance of campaigns, and compile statistical analysis and monthly reports
• Proactively stay updated with best-practice and industry developments, being the organisation’s resident digital expert, and advising other team members.
• Ensure the collection, integration, and analysis of data in order to improve the effectiveness of reporting and the efficiency of the organisation.

• Constantly keeping up to date with the latest digital tools and technologies in order to support the work of the Communications Department team, also by sharing the necessary information among colleagues

b. Website and Extranet
• Ensure the timely publication of multimedia and written content in the different languages on the Caritas Internationalis website, as well as on the Baobab extranet
• Build dedicated pages, donation appeals and sections for campaigns, projects and other initiatives
• Ensure constant updating, development, and maintenance of the website
• Ensure constant analysis of website visits and user profiles
• Ensure digital information are properly archived for future reference and needs

• Ensure search engine optimization (SEO) and code setting

c. Digital fundraising
• Creation of Dem and newsletters to be sent to donors through a dedicated system, with subsequent analysis of the results, so as to adapt wording and content in future mailings ensuring greater effectiveness.
• Propose and implement crowdfunding systems
• Contribute to the development of a posts sponsorship strategy.
• Constantly update the fundraising tools for the different social media
• Ensure delivery of fundraising campaigns across digital, mobile, social media, and developing channels.
• Develop and test new initiatives and innovative concepts for digital fundraising.

• Contribute to manage CRM donors’ database

d. Work for the Caritas Confederation
• Conduct training on digital communication and fundraising activities
• Help to produce digital content and strategy for the Confederation

4. EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS

• Three to five years' experience in a digital communications and fundraising role in development and/or Church organisations.
• Proficiency in the English language. Fluency in at least one language between Spanish and French. Knowledge of Italian is an asset.
• Knowledge, share and understanding of the role of the Catholic Church in humanitarian and development action and solidarity with it.
• University Degree in marketing or management/economics/communication science or any other degree but compensated by technical background and experience in digital marketing.
• Good knowledge and experience in communicating about humanitarian work
• Proven experience/ability to fostering public audience engagement through digital platforms
• Excellent knowledge of content management systems likeWordPress
• Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS
• Excellent knowledge of social media management platform like Hootsuite
• Good knowledge of using Data Management Systems
• Excellent knowledge of crowdfunding tools and platforms, as well as fundraising tools for social media
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Experience Desing) to manage images, photographs and graphics
• Knowledge of Google analytics tools and Social Media Audience insights
• Knowledge of configuration management and server environment
• Ability to create, measure, and optimize paid social media campaigns
• Ability to work proactively, and autonomously and good attitude in collaborating with colleagues and any external partners
• Ability to work in a consultative manner
• Ability to work under pressure and with deadlines
• Ability to plan and schedule work, and to organise and prioritise work to be done
• Ability to revise and proofread meticulously
