The project:

The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has launched the ACTION: IP Key Action – Intellectual Property: Key to Sustainable Development in South East Asia Phase II Framework Contract. The overall objective of this action will continue to be the promotion of a more level playing field for European companies operating in South-East Asia by contributing to greater transparency and effective implementation of the IPR protection and enforcement system. The purpose of this contract is to acquire services to reinforce the project management team which, in close cooperation with national and regional stakeholders and the relevant EU Delegations (trade sections), will implement cooperation activities pertaining to the IP Key South East Asia. Specific activities will be defined on a yearly basis according to EU selected priority areas to improve IPR protection and enforcement and raise awareness.

Duration of the assignment: 33 months

The expert is expected to work for a total of 660 working days within the 33 months.

We are looking for an Activity Coordinator, based in Bangkok (Thailand) with the following experience and knowledge:

 General experience:

  • University degree in Law, Political Science, Economics or equivalent studies;
  • Proficiency in English;
  • More than 4 years of professional experience related to the organisation/coordination of public activities and/or events (seminars, conferences, webinars, workshops).
  • 2 years of experience in IP in the EU;
  • 3 years of professional experience acquired in South East Asia
  • 3 years of professional experience in the implementation of projects funded by regional or international cooperation projects (UN, WIPO, etc.);
  • 2 years of experience in the implementation of EU-funded projects.

 Specific professional experience:

  • 2 years of experience in supporting international trade negotiations;
  • 5 years of experience in IPR acquired working with SEA stakeholders in the private, academic or public sector;
  • 3 years of professional experience in working with international organisations/EU Institutions or business associations (public or private) in the IP sector;
  • 2 years of experience in trade negotiations and/or experience in IP related to Europe-SEA countries relations (public or private) and/or gained in SEA countries;
  • At least 2 years of experience with the IP environment in EU and SEA, in relation to patents, copyright, plant variety, GIs IPR enforcement and/or judicial procedures;
  • Acquainted with the main IP issued related to international trade negotiations between EU and South East Asia.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Manage implementation of activities in the area of their IP specific expertise, taking into account possible new formats and online/hybrid actions;
  • Elaborate activity reports and contribute to elaboration of other project reports;
  • Contribute to the elaboration of AWPs;
  • Establish and maintain excellent working relations with stakeholders in the region (relevant SEA authorities, EUD, experts, etc.);
  • Monitoring resources and activities implementation and preparing periodic reports;
  • Implement the communication and visibility plan of the action;
  • Represent the action towards all relevant stakeholders on site, including international and bilateral donor agencies, private sector actors, academia, etc
