Description

Jamaican Residents only.

Background

The Communications Unit of the United Nations Development Programme's (UNDP) Multi Country Office in Jamaica plays a vital role in influencing the development agenda, promoting public and media outreach and mobilizing political and financial support for UNDP. The Unit communicates the organization’s thought leadership and demonstrates the Country Programme’s impact through external communications, advocacy, and social mobilization.

Communicating UNDP's results and thought leadership is important to demonstrate organizational impact, galvanise support for UNDP's work, and demonstrate transparency. Globally, UNDP has moved resource mobilization and communications from an afterthought to a central thought in UNDP programming. This is critical for UNDP to remain a partner of choice in achieving the SDGs. UNDP regards external engagement as important for helping reach audiences who will affect policy and programmes locally regionally and globally, which in turn broadens UNDP's partnerships and mobilises more resources for development, magnifying the organization's impact.

The post will provide dedicated support to technical and administrative tasks required for successful implementation of the current Advocacy and Communications strategy of the 2022 to 2026 Country Programme. The Advocacy and Communications strategy is designed to bolster UNDP's reputation as a partner of choice for development interventions in the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) of the western Caribbean sub region, and to raise awareness on UNDP MCO’s integrated solutions to address multi-dimensional poverty and inequality.
