What we are looking for

  • You have a postgraduate degree (preferably a PhD) in social science, international development, geography, anthropology, political science, public health, gender studies or a related field, with extensive training and experience in leading research teams, implementing qualitative data collection, and conducting analysis. Familiarity with mixed methods research is a plus but not required.
Knowledge of issues in development (e.g., agriculture, education, health, child labour, gender equality, poverty, inclusive development, climate change adaptation) is highly desirable.
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; written and verbal communication skills in other languages (e.g., French, German, Spanish, Arabic, Russian) would be a plus. Knowledge of software used for qualitative analysis (e.g., MAXQDA, NVivo) is desirable but not required.
  • You are detail-oriented, and adept at multitasking. You enjoy interacting with a wide range of individuals ranging from researchers to clients and research partners in the project countries, and you are able to maintain good collaborations.

The position is based in Mannheim and may include short trips to research project sites in other countries.

We look forward to receiving your CV and cover letter, transcripts, and a copy of a report or qualitative analysis you have conducted.
