The European Cancer Patient Coalition (ECPC) is a European umbrella organisation based in Brussels gathering over 450 cancer patient associations from 49 Countries.
ECPC was set up in 2003. We believe that cancer patients are the most important partners in cancer control and we advocate for all the cancer-related issues aﬀecting our society. Every day we are working to make sure that all European cancer patients have timely and aﬀordable access to the best treatment and care available, throughout their life.
We are looking for a talented, sociable and ambitious communications professional to help us achieve the goals of our mission. The Partnerships and Communications Manager will be working in EU-funded research projects (Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, IMI, etc), ECPC-led awareness and policy campaigns and initiatives, as well as liasing with ECPC members and supporting our partners.
Overseeing all internal and external communications, ensuring ECPC’s message is consistent and engaging;
Planning, presenting to the Board and implementing the Annual Communications Action Plan;
Leading the ECPC communication activities and research projects dissemination by setting up and implementing communication and dissemination plans to promote these specific projects to support our partners and increase the ECPC visibility;
Leading, training and empowering the communications team to conceptualize and implement creative communication and dissemination strategies and campaigns;
Consistently building and maintaining the good reputation and relationships with external partners and other organisations;
Develop, write and edit communications materials, including press releases, website content, blog posts, press releases, publications and social media content through appropriate channels and audiences;
Collaboration and communication with our members: maintaining and updating the ECPC membership database, building meaningful relationships with external partners and stakeholders, by creating an engaging and active membership policy;
Organising our Annual Congress and General Assembly, our various online and face to face events during the year and our participation at the ESMO and other big Congresses.
A marketing and political flair;
Strong skills to translate complex situations and issues into content that resonates with non-specialist audience, journalistic style, understanding of the traditional and online media’s world, taste for research and argumentation;
Creativity and thinking out of the box;
Strong interpersonal communication and networking skills.
Manage the many ECPC partnerships, members, sponsors, partners, collaborators, media partners, commission and EU Parliament officials, etc. Keeping track of the different groups in well updated lists;
Create a sense of community within each one of them and among all of them;
Community manager skills to keep each and all partnerships informed of ECPC activities and news, and equally inform ECPC of the activities and news in every partnership.

A Master’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, political science, or related field is required;
5 years of proven experience in the communications field in a similar job, traineeships do not count;
Strong teamwok mindset, proven ability to lead and manage a small team of peers and trainees;
Knowledge, understanding of cancer, of health systems operation, previous work experience in an NGO, health sector and in developing awareness campaigns strongly preferred;
Excellent use of written and oral English is mandatory, fluency in a second EU language is required;
Expert use of Microsoft Office 365 Suite with emphasis on Power Point for presentations, Publisher or similar for creating documents e.g. brochures, invitations, programs, infographics, etc, Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere…), MailChimp and social media platforms;
Experience in using Content Management Systems, ideally WordPress;
Understanding of EU health policy making processes and structure of the European Commission;
Ability to make and implement an annual workload plan, estimate timelines accurately and work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
Previous experience in EU Funded Projects (H2020/Horizon Europe/IHI/IMI/Erasmus +);
Previous experience in oncology or other health related field;
Teamwork, a collaborative mindset are essential and willingnes and readiness to offer a helping hand when and where needed are key.

This is a full-time position (38 hours per week), remuneration according to Belgian legislation (CP337.000) and depending on the candidates’ profile and experience.
