The International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) is a policy and action research organisation promoting sustainable development and linking local priorities to global challenges. We are based in London and work on five continents with some of the world’s most vulnerable people to strengthen their voices in the decision-making arenas that affect them. With more than 150 members of staff working with associates and partners around the world, IIED has been at the forefront of evidence-based policymaking in sustainable development for over 50 years.

The Green Economy Coalition (GEC) is a network of over 50 collaborating organisations, with a secretariat hosted by IIED and based in IIED’s Shaping Sustainable Markets Group. The GEC works to support the dialogue, exchange and adoption of policy on green economy.

We are currently seeking a Project Manager to join us on a full time basis, working 35 hours per week for a one year fixed term contract to cover a period of maternity leave.

The Role

This role is unique in that we are looking for someone who has strong project management experience with skills in communications.

As our Project Manager, you will oversee financial management and ensure our GEC projects and the overall programme run smoothly.

Managing project and event budgets, you will provide financial management for a variety of projects, liaising with project funders, partners and subcontractors.

You will also provide support on project management tasks such as preparing project plans with project leads, co-ordinating with the team on deadlines, minuting meetings and sharing actions.

This role will also provide communications support on blog writing, website updating, preparing our newsletters, and social media posting.

Additionally, you will:

- Draft, process and monitor partner and consultant contracts
- Review and submit financial reports to donors
- Generate invoices and payment requests for donors
- Collect project data and information for monitoring and evaluation

- Maintain and update the team’s database of contacts

About You

To be considered as our Project Manager, you will need:

- Experience of the financial administration of projects
- Experience of contract preparation and management
- Experience of event administration and co-ordinating travel arrangements
- Knowledge of budget and financial management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, preferably experience in social media posting
- Good analytical and numeracy skills
- Great priority management skills
- Proficiency in IT

Please note, this role may involve travel to occasional events in the UK and overseas as required.

IIED is a hybrid working organisation and you are likely to be working from home most of the time. As such, you will need a suitable place to work and a reliable, fast internet connection.
