Job Description

For this role you need to be eligible to work in the Netherlands. SNV cannot sponsor for a work visa.

Join SNV as a Project Officer - Quality and Innovation. In this dynamic role, you'll drive organizational change, empower team members, and align SNV's activities with its mission and strategic goals towards sustainable development.

Our 2030 strategy places a strong emphasis on ‘systems transformation’ because we recognize that achieving our mission requires approaches to our work that go beyond surface solutions and fighting symptoms; it requires a fundamental shift towards systemic change.

That's why SNV is investing in embedding systems transformation into our organizational framework, starting with a two-year project aimed at empowering our teams to work adaptively and holistically for lasting impact. Throughout this process, we aim to understand the conditions and methods that lead to success, and then expand, solidify, and embed them within SNV's culture and operations.

The Project Officer - Quality and Innovation, in collaboration with the Deputy Project Manager, forms a core team of two individuals collaborating across SNV's diverse departments. From project, country, and sector teams to business development and HR. The Project Officer will support key activities such as testing design and implementation approaches, fostering learning and knowledge exchange, and inspiring others to engage in systems transformation. This role presents an excellent opportunity to contribute to the evolution of a mission-driven organization and support team members in embracing our collective journey.

Besides this, your key responsibilities are:

  • Drive an active conversation on systems transformation within the organization and our development partners in countries through online webinars, workshops, case studies, internal blogs, and online community moderation.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams under the guidance of the Deputy Project Manager to test approaches and tools for embedding a systems transformation lens in design, execution, and monitoring.
  • Act as the deputy PM's right-hand person for various activities, including coordinating with other global teams, developing minimum standards, and managing external relationships.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency level equivalent to a master’s degree in international development, organizational change management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in roles focusing on complex organizational change processes aimed at quality improvement.
  • Proficient in English with a preference for proficiency in French, enabling effective communication and collaboration across multicultural teams.
  • Experience in building and nurturing strong relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders.

To be successful in the role we also value:

  • A pragmatic approach to problem-solving, utilizing analytical skills and practical solutions to address complex challenges.
  • Proactive attitude with the ability to identify collaboration opportunities to advance the systems transformation agenda.
  • Patience and adeptness in leading organizational change, fostering stakeholder buy-in, and successfully implementing new systems and practices.
  • Knowledge about the principles and practices of systems transformation, with a demonstrated understanding of its importance in development contexts.

Additional Information

  • Contract Type: Full time
  • Duty Station: The Hague, The Netherlands
  • Contract Duration: until December 2025, with the potential for extension with 1 year
  • Expected Start Date: as soon as possible, preferably April 2024
  • Travel: Frequently (25%)
