Description

The Donor Committee for Dual Vocational Training is an initiative of four donors that are important in the field of vocational training: the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Directorate for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and the Liechtenstein Development Service (LED ). Together they would like to make even better use of the advantages of dual vocational training in development cooperation. The committee promotes professional exchange and cooperation between members, serves as a source of information and resources and offers targeted support for projects and programs. The Donor Committee has a secretariat to coordinate and support the activities. This is run by Swisscontact based in Zurich.

To strengthen the secretariat of the transnational Donor Committee for dual Vocational Education and Training (DC dVET), we are looking for a committed person as of April 1, 2024 or by agreement who is convinced that dual vocational training makes an important contribution to development the partner countries can achieve.

Thematic Expert DC dVET (60 – 80%)

Place of work: Zurich and/or home office

Contract duration: limited to 2.5 years with an option to extend

Tasks

Responsible for the independent planning, coordination and implementation of activities in the areas of specialist expertise, outreach and communication. This includes, among other things, the development of concepts and decision-making bases, the provision of various communication formats; Coordination and implementation of workshops for various actors, collaboration with and positioning with international organizations such as the ILO, UNEVOC, GAN and several more.
In the area of specialist expertise, the area of responsibility includes writing publications, coordinating external experts on selected topics of dual vocational training as well as observing and working on relevant topics for dual vocational training in development cooperation.
Active participation in other specialist areas and support of their activities (e.g. technical assistance to members and projects or positioning with important players in international cooperation or vocational training)
Collaboration with the secretariat management and close exchange with the members of the committee regarding planning, monitoring and reporting of strategic direction and activities
Responsible for the content design of current topics such as digitalization, green skills, VET in fragile contexts, involvement of the private sector
External representation of the secretariat together with the secretariat management

Requirements

At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in dual vocational training
Experience in international cooperation, primarily in the areas of vocational training and employment
Ideally, a scientific background in the field of vocational training or international cooperation and knowledge of the Swiss vocational training system
Independent, committed and efficient way of working
Winning appearance with clear and stylish oral and written expression in German and English. French and other language skills are an advantage
Willingness to travel internationally
