Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist, USAID/Jordan Knowledge, Monitoring, Evidence, Learning, and Research Activity (KMELRA), Jordan

Proposal Objective:

Social Impact is bidding on the upcoming USAID/Jordan KMELRA project, intended to be an umbrella mechanism providing USAID/Jordan with empirical data on program effectiveness, deepen accountability, foster learning, and knowledge management, and improve Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) and Collaboration, Learning and Adaptation (CLA) capacity within USAID/Jordan Mission and Jordan in general. The Activity will be designed to advance USAID localization agenda and promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) goals.

Position Description:

Social Impact is seeking a full-time Jordanian GIS Specialist will leverage GIS and predictive analytics across all components to inform activity design and management under this anticipated project.

This will be a full-time position based in Amman, Jordan for the duration of the contract, contingent upon contract award. The anticipated award date for the proposal is Fall 2024.

Responsibilities:

  • Support GIS and information systems tasks, and design and carry out online surveys, manage the GIS maps and data, liaise with implementing partners to get GIS project information, review the GIS information and provide GIS products to USAID and implementing partners.
  • Facilitate the development, adoption, maintenance, and use of information management systems that support project planning, monitoring, and evaluation and reporting.
  • Assist with data collection, data analysis, database management and production of program monitoring reports.
  • Interpret and produce data visualizations for M&E products. Advise on data visualization tools and approaches to best convey key messages, results, presentations, and reports for USAID and implementing partners.
  • Maintain a reporting system to track the process of the assessments and evaluations, including actions emanating from them.
  • Contribute to drafting of process reports, maintenance of organized records of past activities, tracking of performance systems, and collection of periodic reporting documents.
  • Review research deliverables, provide feedback, and enhance the design and visualization of presented data.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in GIS, geography, computer science, engineering, research methods, demography, or related field.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in data analysis, data visualization, data management, and creation of GIS mapping and information systems.
  • Experience serving in a similar position supporting USAID Missions or USAID implementing partners in provision of GIS and/or data visualization services.
  • Knowledge of graphics and visualization tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc. Experience using data analysis software including STATA, SPSS, SAS. Experience using ArcGIS software for GIS mapping.
  • Ability to use data visualization tools to better present and synthesize data for reports and deliverables.
  • Familiarity with USAID’s objectives, approaches, and operations, particularly as they relate to M&E.
  • Professional proficiency in oral and written English, and fluency in Standard Arabic.
