International Frozen Semen Processing Laboratory Specialist (Intermittent Input) (International) – 8 Person Months

Minimum Qualifications:

(i)                   Post-graduate qualification in veterinary science, biology, or a related science

(ii)                  At least 10 years at a senior `level in the development and management of cattle semen processing laboratories, including in developing countries and, preferably, in Southeast Asia.

(iii)                 A good understanding of WOAH standards for semen production and processing and of the preparation of training curricula is important.

The International Semen Processing -consultant will complete the following tasks by assisting the GDAHP and NCBC Management Board to:

(iv)                 Assist the NCBC to develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for semen collection, processing, freezing, storage and distribution in Cambodia;

(v)                  Review the equipment and materials procurement list for the NCBC laboratory and liquid nitrogen storage and prepare detailed specifications for their procurement;

(vi)                 Review the laboratory design plans and, in consultation with the construction engineer, make any recommendations for their improvement.

(vii)               Train NCBC laboratory staff in the collection, processing, freezing and storage of bull semen and assist them to apply the associated SOPs;

(viii)              Review plans for regional frozen semen and liquid nitrogen distribution centers and assist the design engineers to improve plans if required;

(ix)                 Develop a training manual and conduct training programs for POAHP staff in frozen semen and liquid nitrogen storage and sale;

(x)                  The consultant will work in close collaboration with the international specialist for livestock breeding and the national livestock breeding
