This is a 12-month mandate for the Oxfam regional platform in Latin America & the Caribbean (mandate based in Bolivia, Salvador, Peru or Honduras). 

The mandate is under the Equality in Action Volunteer Cooperation Program (VCP), which takes place in 12 countries and 3 regions over a eight-year period (2020-2028). The VCP aims to increase the involvement of local partners in countries of intervention in inclusive, innovative and sustainable initiatives that will advance gender equality. Oxfam's role is to support these organizations, working with the most vulnerable and marginalized people, to claim and exercise their rights. Oxfam places the rights of women, girls, and vulnerable and marginalized people at the heart of everything it does. 

Here's what your daily life will look like:   

In close collaboration with Oxfam’s regional platform team members, your mandate will be to:   

  • Lead relations with the region's traditional and independent media, and new digital information formats, seeking to secure Oxfam's agenda among audiences of interest;
  • Propose and lead communications projects for influence through external allies to ensure sustainability of the organization's agenda in the medium term; 
  • Support the capacity building of Oxfam teams in the region and their local partners in the design of communication strategies and support Oxfam country teams and their partners in the quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the results achieved in the communication strategies used; 
  • Adapt and improve the regional mobilization and digital communication strategy (alliances, activities, digital communication) articulated to Oxfam's regional influence strategy in the region and that of its partners, identify and evaluate new digital communication tools, monitor and evaluate the success of internal and digital communication initiatives and campaigns, and develop a mapping of digital audiences; 

For this mandate you must :  

  • Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada; 
  • Have a university degree in Communication, Digital communication, or other relevant field;
  • Have 2 years of relevant experience to the mandate (in creating digital communication strategies, managing social networks with innovative content, reporting on digital campaign results); 
  • Be fluent in Spanish, spoken and written (required);

  • A volunteer support program during your mandate and up to two months after the end of your mandate;
