Description
The global objective of this Call for Proposals is to ensure continuity in EC support to the DPRK Health and Water & Sanitation sectors by pursuing actions initiated in these fields under DG ECHO, build up on the Commission's expertise and experience in the DPRK, and preserve the working relations with the country's authorities (both at central and decentralised levels).
The specific objectives of this Call for Proposals are:
Lot 1: Health
The specific objective of the Health component is to restore access -in particular for poor and most vulnerable groups- to basic health and social services through the rehabilitation of county-level Primary Health Centres, clinics and social institutions (including for the disabled).
Complementary specific objectives are to further train the health and social institutions' staff in management, hygiene and diseases control and prevention; and make the local communities' population aware of the direct link between hygiene and health via health and social institutions.
Lot 2: Water and Sanitation
The specific objective of the Water & Sanitation component is to install new and/or rehabilitate existing but derelict water management systems; in particular sanitation and/or waste water management systems (as priority 1) and drinkable water supply systems (as priority 2).
A complementary specific objective is to train the staff of local authorities in charge of maintenance of water and sanitation systems and train health and social institutions' staff in waterborne diseases control and prevention.
