Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO)

Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) is a non-governmental organization founded in 2003 in Sindh, Pakistan whose purpose is to contribute to poverty reduction in rural areas through community empowerment, capacity building, skills development and the implementation of infrastructure projects.

SRSO operates in the underdeveloped regions of the province and supports particularly vulnerable and disadvantaged social groups such as sharecroppers, small landowners and wage earners. Fifteen districts of the Sindh province (Sukkur, Khairpur, Ghotki, Sanghar, etc.) fall under the jurisdiction of the SRSO and through its activities SRSO promotes the values of social justice, participatory development, women empowerment and the protection of natural resources. It plays an important role in Pakistani society through support, innovation, research, training and advocacy for poverty alleviation in Sindh. SRSO is supported by various partners and donors – the Government of Pakistan, the European Union, USAID, UNICEF, IFAD, PPAF and the IKEA Foundation. The main strategic goal of this NGO is to develop a network of grassroots level organizations in its program area in order to enable rural communities to implement developmental activities and programs for productive employment and an improvement in living standards.
