Swadhin Yatra

NGO Swadhin Yatra was born in August 2006 in Kolkata. The goal of the NGO is to contribute to the emancipation and empowerment of people and families in fragile socio-economic situations. Also, NGO Swadhin Yatra has been providing modest support in India for more than 13 years to children, women, families, and older people in West Bengal, Kolkata and the Darjeeling region: 

• Children: Kanchanjanga Primary School was co-built in the village of Kolakham in 2010, located in the Himalayas at 2000m altitude in the Darjeeling region.
• Families: Micro-credit programs at 0% interest were carried out in Kolkata from 2006 to 2010, especially among residents of the Dhapa slum.
• Women: The Anindita social and craft project was launched in 2016 to support women's empowerment in Kolkata. This project was concretized by the creation of a sewing workshop allowing several women to have a precisely paid work.
• Elderly people: support for the Ram Thakur Retirement Home in Kolkata is provided, especially for the expansion of the facility. Several residents are also sponsored for their housing and medical expenses.
