The history of the Shymkent water utility began 57 years ago. On November 28, 1951, the Vodokanal administration was organized in Chimkent. Before that, the townspeople used water from springs, wells and rivers. Water supply in the period from 1951 to 1957 consisted of 2 pumping stations located in the area of the Koshkarat river. The pump capacity reached 1255 m3 per day, the length of the networks was only 18.5 km. The water raised by two pumping stations was sold at a price of 1 kopeck for 2 buckets.
