Zambia Social Forum (Zamsof)

About
The Zambia Social Forum (ZAMSOF) is held as a prelude to the World Social Forum (WSF) that was initiated in Porto Alegre (Brazil) in 2001 under the banner of “Another World Is Possible”.
The social forum is regarded as an activist platform to strengthen popular democracy and mobilisation. Such open spaces also serve to critically challenge the status quo, which puts markets and profits before people. The forums further serves to build global and regional solidarity around issues of social, ecological, political, and economic justice.
Thus, the main purpose of the World Social Forum (WSF) is to signify civil society and mass movement’s opposition voices to the high level and one-sided deliberations of Davos and to provide humane alternatives to the neo-liberal discourse
