Faculty of Medicine of Sousse

The Faculty of Medicine of Sousse was created in 1974 by law n° 74-83 of December 11, 1974 ratifying decree-law n° 74-7 of August 25, 1974. It is the first Faculty established in the Tunisian Center and in outside Tunis with the Faculty of Medicine of Sfax.

The Faculty of Medicine of Sousse , with a regional development mission, has taken from its creation a new innovative option to open up to its environment and prepare its future doctors for the practice of integrated medicine according to an approach of both curative and preventive. She thus created a department of community medicine and introduced this teaching from the first year.

The Faculty of Sousse has been driven from the start by a desire for excellence. It has developed a privileged international cooperation with French faculties, and it has opened up to the North American school of medical training, by implementing a cooperation project with the Faculty of Medicine of Montreal financed by CIDA (CANADA). In 1984, on the occasion of the millennium of Ibn EL Jazzar, it was named Ibn EL Jazzar Faculty.
