About
Equipa d’África originating from the Youth Teams of Our Lady every year develops volunteer missionary projects and social and educational cooperative activities in Mozambique and Portugal, seeking to improve the living conditions of local populations.
Born in 1998, over these 14 years the group has grown from 9 to 40 young people between 18 and 30 years of age who provide their vacation to go on missions lasting a month and a half to two Mozambique months, and two to four weeks in Portugal. To do this, take part in annual training that is aimed at the preparation for the mission, but rather personal and social growth of the volunteers as well as awareness of the social problems of today and the participation in existing community responses in Portugal and Mozambique.
In 2009, the Team of Africa began to also develop educational projects for development and citizenship (Project Arms Raised), initially with a group of the first cycle, and later with secondary school students.
