Objectives: The Agriculture and Food Research Initiative (AFRI) Foundational and Applied Science Program supports research and extension activities to address challenging issues across the agricultural spectrum. The program prioritizes projects contributing to plant and animal health, food safety, nutrition, climate adaptation, natural resource management, economic systems, and technology development, enhancing agricultural production and sustainability. Developing innovative solutions to improve food systems, agriculture technologies, and production practices is paramount, aiming to address economic and environmental goals, enhance resource management, and contribute to rural and community well-being through an annual funding of about $300 million.
