Description

The Peace Operations Training Institute (POTI) is a nonprofit organization based in Williamsburg, VA. POTI provides globally accessible self-paced, online, on-demand courses on peace support, humanitarian relief, and security operations at little to no cost to the student. We are committed to bringing essential, practical knowledge to military personnel, police, and civilians working towards peace worldwide. Recruitment for a Grants Specialist is now open. Responsibilities

As a Grants Specialist, you will create timely grant applications/proposals and reports, create and verify the accuracy of budgets, ensure compliance with policies and procedures, ensure that reporting is accurate and timely, and facilitate closeouts to ensure full revenue recognition.

Grants:

Ensure compliance with financial and administrative aspects of grants.

Prepare appropriate reports for funders and ensure work within deadlines and compliance on all contracts.

Provide ongoing financial oversight of grants and contracts including tracking funds, evaluating expenditures, forecasting, and preparation and submission of interim and final reports.

Prepare formal and ad-hoc financial reports as needed. Provide analysis and reasons for variance if needed. Forecast expenditures and make recommendations for corrective action if deficits are projected.

Work with Treasurer to manage budgeting process for grants and contracts and assist in general budget development and implementation.

Monitor spending on active grants.

General:

Aid in purchasing, payment of services and reimbursement of expenses. Monitor expenses for correct allocation of funds.

Charge expenses to accounts and programs by analyzing invoice/expense reports; recording entries.

Assist with monthly, annual, and ad-hoc reporting requirements.

Provide backup assistance to Treasurer.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Previous grant administration and nonprofit accounting experience is preferable.

Proficiency with Excel Software is necessary, and knowledge of QuickBooks is preferable.

Skills in and preparing for external audits as well as financial reporting.

Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Ability to handle confidential and non-routine information with sensitivity.
