Senior Research & Evaluation Specialist

The Khana Group (TKG) is a leading social impact research, evaluation, and data collection firm with a mission to improve evidence and impact with data. The firm has offices in Liberia, Ghana, Nigeria, and the US and conducts rigorous research and evaluations across the continents and has worked on over 300 projects with over 100 clients and partners, across over 25 countries in Africa.

TKG is expanding its team and is seeking a Senior Research & Evaluation Specialist working remotely (with some travel requirements) to lead research and evaluation activities across the firm, including developing M&E strategy and conducting rigorous evaluations and research studies for various projects. We are looking for someone with strong quantitative and qualitative background and with some experience conducting RCT studies.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Develop and revise logframe matrix, particularly in the areas of the objective hierarchy, indicators and monitoring mechanisms
Develop evaluation framework and reports
Manage multiple evaluation projects and teams
Provide guidance and in some cases lead annual project reviews, participatory impact assessments, process monitoring, operations monitoring and lessons-learned workshops
Adaptation of baseline questionnaires/manuals and field protocols for follow-up survey; conversion of questionnaires into electronic format
Monitor and participate in the entire data collection process, including testing and finalization of data collection instruments, training of survey teams, in-field supervision of survey implementation, and quality-control for submitted data
Contribute to the follow-up survey report and final impact evaluation analysis
Contribute to policy/technical notes and research reports
Contribute to qualitative and quantitative data analysis
With stakeholders, set out the framework and procedures for the evaluation of project activities
Review the quality of existing social and economic data in the project area, the methods of collecting it and the degree to which it will provide good statistics for impact evaluation
Organize and undertake training with stakeholders, including primary stakeholders, in M&E skills, including participatory aspects

Minimal Requirements

A minimum of a Masters (PhD. Preferred) in one of the following or related fields: International Affairs or Relations, Economics, International Economics, Public Health, Gender Studies, or related Social Science required
Minimum of 7 years of experience working in the field of monitoring and evaluation and research
Deep understanding of research methods and hands on experiences applying those methods
Experience working with international donor organizations highly desirable
Proven experience leading teams is desirable
Experience in quantitative and/or qualitative data collection methodologies, and relating software packages
Extensive experience cleaning, analyzing, and reporting quantitative data using statistical software such as MS Excel, SPSS, STATA, R, or SAS
Proven ability to develop user-friendly technical documents
Strong interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, organizational and team-work skills
Proficient in using MS Office projects and conducting internet research is required
Ability to travel within Africa
