Technical Assistance to support the implementation of Municipal water infrastructures in Turkey (AA-010897-001) 

Overall objective

The Project’s overall objective is to improve provision of essential water and sanitation services throughout Turkey. This will contribute to closing the gap with the UN Sustainable Development Goal number 6 (SDG6) “Clean water and sanitation” as well as gaining resilience against Climate Change effects; adaptation for storm water sub-projects and mitigation for wastewater and sewerage sub-projects. Positive social effects are also expected, through improving of household health (SDG3 Good Health and Well-being) through wastewater treatment and environmental positive effects in inland and coastal water bodies (SDG14, Life below water).

Key expert 3: Environmental and Social Specialist

Qualification and Skills 

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g. environmental sciences, social development, social economics, anthropology or equivalent);
  • Good command of English in a working environment (working level).

General Professional Experience

  • 10 years of relevant professional experience;
  • 5 years of international experience preferably in IFI financed projects (outside the usual place of residence).

Specific Professional Experience

  • 8 years of experience in assessing environmental and social risks and impacts in the relevant sectors (e.g. municipal water infrastructure);
  • 5 years of experience with designing and review of Environmental Impact Assessments, with Social and Gender assessments being an asset or complex projects;
  • Proven knowledge of the relevant EU environmental legislation, including EIA Directive and/or international/multilateral institutions environmental & social safeguards;
  • Familiarity with the relevant Turkish national laws and procedures would be an advantage.
